A board member of National Coalition Against Gambling Expansion in Washington, D.C. claimed that online gambling is the most addictive from of gambling ever to be invented. Online gambling grows today even if it is branded as being illegal. By the end of 2009, it became a $20 billion dollar industry. This growth has seen a growth of 20 percent annually.
Without the regulatory structures that look out for identity verification or age, there are millions of the U.S. population gambling online daily. No tax revenues are generated for either state or federal from online gambling. This type of gambling creates no job for anyone and American businesses earn no returns.
It is thought that today there are mover 2,500 gambling sites that offer games from blackjack to slots as well as para-mutuel betting and bingo. Because so much of the online gambling is done privately, the size of this type of gambling is really unknown. Other countries like the UK are legalizing the online gambling, which could be easier than trying to ban it, although some feel to legalize it is not a good thing.
